I wonder all the time. Now I know! They think a lot about the corporate branding of the car park under the Town Hall, used mainly by Councillors and Chief Officers. The Chief Officers own car park under the Mint Walk / Fell Road building was closed to allow for the building of the luxury HQ, so they moved across the road two years ago to join us councillors. Do you think that is why the car park has been re decorated in corporate colours and brand new CCTV installed? We also have a lovely new traffic light system, new roller shutter and new barriers!
I'm sure those that are waiting on a crucial council service waiting list are really pleased our exclusive, secure car park has been 'invested' in.
Recession? Austerity? Clearly not in the minds of Croydon's ruling Tory Councillors and their chief officers.
